For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. (I John 3:20-21) John says, in the verse quoted above, that if my heart does not condemn me, then I have confidence towards God. Sounds nice. But how can my heart not condemn me? Continue Reading
In the screwball comedy classic Bringing Up Baby, Cary Grant, dressed in a woman’s bathrobe, jumps up and down shouting, “I’ve suddenly gone gay!” He could have been speaking for a growing number of congregations today. Continue Reading
Last week TIME magazine ran a feature story on evangelical churches that are changing their position on homosexuality. The article said, in essence, that Evangelicals are experiencing a shift in our thinking, similar to the kind many segregationist Christians experienced during the Civil Rights Movement. To a point I have to agree - certainly, a growing number of believers are re-thinking the issue. And while I strongly disagree with those who are adopting a pro-gay interpretation of the Bible, and of Christianity itself, I want to hear what Continue Reading
I'd sure appreciate your prayers this weekend, as I have the pleasure of spending it in New Hampshire to speak for a few events. I just got in last night, and as expected, the weather's cold and the area's beautiful, and I'm excited about the ministry opportunities. If' you're in the New England area it would be great to see you at any of these! My good friend Rick Kardos, Executive Director of The Nathan Project is hosting me for these events, the first of which is The Nathan Project's annual fundraising dinner, where I'll be speaking Continue Reading

I’m still working on three things Jesus demands from me: that I not worry (Matthew 6:34) that I turn the other cheek (Matthew 5:39) and that I forgive (Matthew 6:15). Strike three. I’ve never thought of myself as an unforgiving, grudge-holding kind of guy. But for whatever reason, I’m now seeing many things I just haven’t let go of. And I’m talking about old things, ancient history from childhood, or junior high days, or very young adulthood. Which is interesting, because candidly, I’ve been messed with pretty badly in recent years. In Continue Reading
