At Genesis Biblical Solutions, we know the value of support, and what it means to anyone who is going through a crisis in a relationship, or struggle with a life-dominating issue. You're not meant to go through this alone--that's why I'm starting two online support groups, beginning in March. Register now by checking out the info below: The Game Plan Men's Purity Group Based on his 5-step plan, ROUTE, men will learn specific steps to take, how to establish order, deal with cycles of temptation, and get off the "rollercoaster" by Continue Reading

“You who are kept by the power of God — “ -I Peter 1:5 I was baptized 44 years ago, served God fervently for 7 years, spent the next 6 backslidden, then came back to my Father’s house in 1984 where I’ve happily resided since. Imperfectly, but still in residence. Continue Reading

As We Forgive Those Who Trespass Against Us (repeat chorus as needed)

I’m still working on three things Jesus demands from me: that I not worry (Matthew 6:34) that I turn the other cheek (Matthew 5:39) and that I forgive (Matthew 6:15). Strike three. I’ve never thought of myself as an unforgiving, grudge-holding kind of guy. But for whatever reason, I’m now seeing many things I just haven’t let go of. And I’m talking about old things, ancient history from childhood, or junior high days, or very young adulthood. Which is interesting, because candidly, I’ve been messed with pretty badly in recent years. In Continue Reading

I Was Born Again This Way

“And having been set free from sin you became slaves of righteousness.” -Romans 6:18 Pop singer Lady Gaga made a huge splash with a dance single extolling the virtues of self-love, self-congratulations and general self-celebration in her song Born This Way. The lyrics proclaim that whatever we are must be good simply because it is, so God must have intended it. There’s plenty of room for theological debate right there, in light of scripture’s clear explanation of our fallen nature, but never mind. A primary point the Lady makes is that birth Continue Reading

World Vision: And the Hits (To Integrity) Just Keep On Comin’

World Vision

"I'm hoping this (decision to hire openly gay employees in same sex marriages) may inspire unity among others as well, to say how can we come together across some differences and still join together as brothers and sisters in Christ in our common mission of building the kingdom." -World Vision President Richard Stearns  Another one bites the dust. Christianity Today broke the story this afternoon that World Vision, the well known Christian charitable organization which has fostered sponsorship of needy children for over 60 years, is Continue Reading

Wrestling with Arizona

I’ve been wrestling with the rightness or wrongness of SB 1062 the controversial bill passed by the Arizona Legislature but vetoed by the state’s Governor Jan Brewer which would have granted private businesses protection if they chose not to offer services that violated their religious beliefs. Of Pots and Kettles

man artistic blur

Every Monday we’ll post something to do with personal purity. Hope it helps. — Of Pots and Kettles Your first thought, like mine, was probably How could he? How could anyone? And of course, we don’t know; not yet, maybe never. We do know that something unfathomable inspired James Holmes to enter an Aurora, Colorado theater just past midnight, July 20, with murderous intent. Within minutes 12 people were dead and 58 injured; within hours hundreds of family members were plunged into their worst nightmare. The rest of us are left dazed Continue Reading

What About —

real marriage

Every Tuesday we post something about strengthening or rebuilding marriages. Hope it helps. — “What About ---” --- watching porn together? Fantasy role playing? Oral sex? “Sexting”? (Sending each other graphic messages via text) Are these things OK for married couples?” Inquiring minds, especially of the married sort, want to know. And in response, people are tackling some very spicy issues in their sermons and writings. Case in point, Pastor Mark Driscoll, leader of the Seattle mega-church Mars Hill, whose recent book Real Continue Reading
