Messaging

marriage bands

Every Tuesday we’ll post something to do with restoring marriages. Hope it helps. — Messaging One on the axioms our Personal Intercommunications instructor drilled into us in college was that you cannot not communicate. Your words, tone and demeanor are always messaging, and paying attention to the message you’re sending is part of the relationship bargain. When you’re close to someone you’re influencing their environment for better or worse, so clearly what you’re communicating to your spouse has a lot to do with her/his general Continue Reading

Training Tools From The Master

runner

Every Monday we’ll post something to do with maintaining sexual purity. Hope it helps. — Training Tools from the Master Any man who decides to resist his urges is a man in training. He knows he has desires, some of them strong and daily, that could derail his life if he caves in to them. So he adopts a lifestyle of resistance, saying “no” to what his flesh would say “yes” to because his heart is saying “yes” to something higher and better. He’s an athlete, training for a prize which he keeps his eye on when training gets tough. And if he’s Continue Reading

Personal Prayer Request for My Mother and Family

joe 2

Please keep my family and I in prayer this weekend, as I will be staying with my mother who is very ill and having a pretty rough time of it. This prohibits normal posting today, which I hope you’ll understand. Mom’s health has been on the slide for a couple years now, really, and we’re all pulling together to be with her and do what we can. Renee and my son are such good allies right now, and stressful as this time is I can’t help but count myself incredibly blessed to have the family that God’s given me. Still, should you think of it over the Continue Reading

Darts Among Friends

Othello relating his adventures

Every Thursday I’ll post an article having to do with either relational or emotional matters. Hope it helps. — Darts Among Friends Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. - Ephesians 5:16 In Shakespeare’s Othello the evil character Iago acts out his hatred for one man, and his contempt for people in general, by dividing. He whispers insinuations to Othello, then to his beloved wife Desdemona, and his caption Cassio as well, arousing suspicions between them as he Continue Reading

Every Wednesday we’ll post something to do with doctrine and recovery. Hope it helps. — Beastly So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee.  - Psalms 73:22 David was having one of those  days, one of those Everybody’s got it good but me, Life’s unfair, Why bother days? days. It began, as such days usually do, with envy. “For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.” (vs.3) A righteous man is a struggling man, because he strives against his own passions to do, speak and think Continue Reading

Remind him that you’re his partner and want the best for him, your marriage and your family.

Every Tuesday we’ll post something to do with restoring marriages. Hope it helps. — How Do I Know He’s Getting Better? Five Things to Look for When a Man Says He’s Repentant  Wives often ask my wife and I how they can really know their husband, who’s committed some form of sexual sin, is getting better. While there’s no acid test, there are some things I believe a woman can and should expect when her man says, “I was wrong; I’ve repented of it.” If that’s the case, here are the top five things I think she should see: 1. Action You’ll see Continue Reading

Here are ten ways we can help make that happen. Ten Tips for Maintaining Sexual Integrity Tip 1: GET REAL Recognize that sexual temptation is unavoidable in our sex-obsessed culture. Random Ramblings #31: Drunk Cops, Waving Bears, Brave Dogs and Margaret Thatcher

joe 2

Every Friday we’ll take a break from topical posts and will post some random personal thoughts.  — A Cuppa Joe - Random Ramblings from a Fellow Struggler I’ve got no intelligent juices flowing this morning, and I’ve overdosed on Republican candidate issues, important as they are. So let’s turn to Yahoo! news for some junk food items. We’ll be in good company chowing down the junk food. Florida police officers were paid to chomp Doritos and wash them down with Jim Beam. Yes. In the interest of testing the effectiveness of a breathalyzer Continue Reading

Friend, Interrupted

Every Thursday I’ll post an article having to do with either relational or emotional matters. Hope it helps. — Friend, Interrupted A true friend never gets in your way unless you happen to be going down. - Arnold H. Glasow Robert was amazing; a young leader gifted with insight, passion and astonishing charisma. I first met him when he was leading a home Bible study, and though he was barely twenty one years old at the time, he taught with an authority years beyond his age. I hooked up with his ministry team; in eight months I was on Continue Reading

Purity: Why All The Fuss?

drop

Every Wednesday we’ll post something to do with doctrine and recovery. Hope it helps. — Purity: Why All the Fuss? “It is a mark of great people to treat trifles as trifles, and important matters as important.” - Doris Lessing If something doesn’t matter to God, then it needn’t matter to us. There are, after all, countless issues for Christians to be concerned about. So in an age marred by terrorism, poverty, violence, and corruption at every level, some would assume that sexual morality is, by its nature, a secondary matter. In Continue Reading
